Statement of Values from our Agencies


The value of your contribution can be considered an investment in people and services as reported here in a few samples provided by organizations we serve.

$10 - one day's dinner, breakfast, and snacks at the Breakwater Homeless Teen Shelter for one homeless teen.

$100 - provides a home visit to a newborn child by a skilled nurse for a well-baby check and parental education through Belfast Public Health Nursing.

$75 - permits one student to participate in a cultural exchange with inner city youth through Trekkers.

$500 - enables one family to enroll their young child in an enriching, developmentally appropriate preschool program at Peopleplace.

$150 - provides one week of transitional housing for an individual returning to the community from the County Jail through the Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast.

$1200 - funds the average cost of flying a seriously ill child and his/her family to the destination of the child's dreams through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine.

$500 - provides Learn-to-Swim lessons for an entire third grade class at a local YMCA.

$195 - could sponsor a child for ten days of Tanglewood Day Camp.

$104 - supports for one year Armed Forces Emergency Services for two military families who need to contact a serviceman in Iraq or Afghanistan , or anywhere in the world. Only the Red Cross can provide this service.

$50 - buys 312.5 lbs. of food for the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry.

$100 - will buy flu shots for 5 people at a walk-in clinic sponsored by Kno-Wal-Lin.

$400 - would buy 10 hours of volunteer tutor time through Literacy Volunteers of Mid-coast Maine to assist an adult learner in increasing reading skills so he or she can read with their child.

$450 - provides a hot, nutritious meal through the Meals on Wheels Program to one homebound older adult five days a week for three months.

$500 - could pay for a years worth of facilitation services for a monthly group for young fathers under the Teen and Young Parent Program of Knox County, Inc.

$390 - per year will allow one student to visit nearly 20 colleges in the Northeastern U.S. during their junior year of high school through Trekkers.

$120 - per month will provide 5 children with cleanings, sealants, and dental education through the Waldo County Community Action Partners
