Down East Books Third Annual Community Sale


Down East Books, Magazine, Online's Second Annual Community Sale will help to raise funds for United Mid Coast Charities

Look for sale books and gifts galore at the June event

(Camden, Maine) Bob Fernald, president of Down East Books, Magazine, Online, announced today that his company will donate a portion of the proceeds from its Third Annual Community Sale to United Mid-Coast Charities (UMCC). "With deep discounts on thousands of overstock items, including very cool books and gifts, and with prize drawings and refreshments, we expect our best-ever Community Sale," Fernald said."We're delighted to give a portion of the proceeds to United Mid-Coast Charities, he added. "As a company that is invested in our community, we love to help an organization that spreads donated dollars over a number of worthy, local community causes. There will also be an employee and comunity donation Yard Sale going on, with proceeds being donated to UMCC by the Employees.

Rusty Brace, president of UMCC, said his all-volunteer organization serves some 50 charitable causes in Knox and Waldo counties. Those organizations provide everything from childcare and hospice help to food, fuel, and housing assistance to the needy.

"The need is very great, Brace said. " UMCC is honored to be chosen as the charity which will benefit from this annual event. As the community comes together for (Down East's) Sale so does it come together to support UMCC, he added.

Known to many as Down East Enterprise or just Down East, Down East Books, Magazine, Online publishes Down East Books, including this season's highly popular Our Point of View: Fourteen Years at a Maine Lighthouse by Lee Ann and Thomas Szelog of Whitefield, and The Colors of Lobstering by Camden photographer Greg Currier. The company also publishes three magazines (Down East: The Magazine of Maine, Fly Rod & Reel, and Shooting Sportsman) and has a growing presence online.
