American Red Cross Mid-Coast Chapter
Provides immediate relief when fires and other disasters strike; first aid, CPR and health and safety training that helps save lives; services to the armed forces; and emergency preparedness education.

Area Interfaith Outreach
AIO food pantry and emergency assistance is located in Rockland but serves all of Knox County.  More than food, AIO issues vouchers to help with emergency needs – primarily heat and electricity, but also other essentials like transportation and rent - and refers people to additional sources of help.
Belfast Area Child Care Services
Belfast Area Children's Services mission is:  Believing that our community will thrive when each member is valued, our mission is to nurture children's growth and support healthy families.

Our two early care and education centers; Belfast Area Children's Center and Starrett Children's center form a community of children, parents and educators devoted to nurturing individual development, fostering creativity and honoring the uniqueness of each person in a safe and loving environment. We are an independent, non-profit organization run by Waldo County residents who are members of the Board of Directors.  The organization was initially established to provide affordable, quality child care to children of working parents, particularly low income families, children in special circumstances and children with special needs.  Everyone is welcome. We serve children birth through school age.  We participate in the CACFP nutrition program and we accept subsidized child care for qualifying families.

Belfast Public Health Nursing Association
Direct care services to residents of Waldo County including crisis management and referral, case management, blood pressure clinics, and vaccinations, regardless of patient’s ability to pay.

Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Mid-Maine
Our mission is to provide children in Knox, Waldo, Kennebec, Lincoln, Penobscot and Somerset Counties facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Our vision is that all children achieve success in life. We work with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving:
•Higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships
•Avoidance of risky behaviors
•Educational success

Broadreach Family and Community Services
Provides quality educational and support services to families, including childhood education and intervention, children’s mental health services, parenting education, and literacy training.

Camden Area Christian Food Pantry
Provides food for needy families in Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Appleton, Hope, Union, Washington, and Searsmont. Neighbors helping neighbors.

Camp Forest - Expanding Opportunities
Provides day and expedition wilderness camping for children ages 7 through 17, incorporating physical, social, psychiatric and community educational services. Contributions go for camper scholarships. Most campers need financial assistance.

Provides day and residential services to assist adults with developmental disabilities to be self-sufficient and become participating members in the social and economic community.

Feeding the hungry of Union, Appleton and South Hope, Maine.  
Open 2nd & 4th Wed. 9:30 - 11:30 AM Food Pantry is in the Thompson Community Center, Rt 131 S, in Union, behind the Union Town Office & Fire Department.

Cornerspring Montessori School

The Game Loft - Maine Youth Alliance
Promotes positive youth development though games by providing programs in Belfast Monday through Saturday when school is not is session. Participants gain leadership and decision making skills, positive attitudes toward their community and the future, and bond with peers and caring adults.

Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County
Provides care to poor and needy citizens through providing affordable housing and educating selected families in the skills and responsibilities of home ownership. Dedicated to building a large network of local volunteers and engaging local expertise.

Herring Gut Learning Center
Founded in 1999, the Herring Gut Learning Center works to foster the economic, social and environmental resilience of coastal communities through student and public educational programs and partnerships that focus on marine resources.  Located in the fishing village of Port Clyde, Herring Gut Learning Center answers the need by delivering hands-on courses and job training for students, teachers and the public. We connect academic studies with real-world experiences to encourage the preservation and economic development of coastal communities for present and future generations.

Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County
Offers free, confidential, non-medical support and assistance to anyone with a life limiting illness and their families. We partner with the medical hospice programs of Waldo County Home Health & Hospice and Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice as part of the collaborative team to bring support to the people of Waldo County. Our trained volunteers provide bereavement support to anyone in our community who is grieving the loss of a loved one.

Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice
A provider of home health care to anyone with acute or chronic illness or terminally ill clients in need of medical, spiritual and psychological assistance.
Knox County Homeless Coalition: Hospitality House
Knox County Health Clinic
Provides high quality, low or no cost health services to low income uninsured persons. Medical, dental, mental health care services as well as prescription assistance for low income patients.

Maine Family Planning
Provides affordable, expert, and confidential reproductive healthcare services and comprehensive sexual health education to women, men, and teens in mid-coast Maine, with health centers in Rockland, Belfast, and Damariscotta. Our services are made available to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
Make-A-Wish Maine 
Fulfills the wishes of any Maine child who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition.
MCH Meals On Wheels
Provides hot, nutritious, balanced meals to the homebound elderly of our communities thereby helping them to maintain their ability to live independently in their own homes.

Mid-Coast Habitat for Humanity
Midcoast Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Knox County through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving safe, healthy, affordable homes. In partnership with hard-working families in need, we create affordable homeownership opportunities, giving them a hand up and lifting them out of poverty. This effort is made possible through the generous donations of materials, labor and funds from individuals and businesses in our community. We're building hope, homes and community.

New Hope for Women
Provides services to all people affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. Our commitment is equally divided between direct services and prevention services.
OUT Maine
OUT Maine supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning young people, under the age of 22, and their allies in rural Maine. We support young people who may feel isolated and alienated as they struggle to understand and accept their sexuality. Our main purpose is to assure them that they are not alone in their struggle. Support has a range of forms, from a safe space at regular OUT Maine meetings, where young people can be themselves and talk about the issues confronting them in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding, to help and guide when young people's emerging identities bring them into conflict with their parents, schools or communities.

Partners for Enrichment
Supports arts, science and technology enrichment programs for elementary school students in Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville. Accomplished with drama music residencies, local authors and illustrators, hands-on science projects.

Penobscot Bay YMCA
The Y is committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Teen Center, an outreach program of the Penobscot Bay YMCA, provides a safe and comfortable afterschool environment for youth in grades five through twelve with constructive programs and activities in an atmosphere of mutual respect, responsibility and belonging. Peopleplace Cooperative Preschool
Provides a family oriented early childhood education that incorporates parental involvement in its programs for children from birth to 6 years. Tuition assistance is available through full and partial scholarships.
Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast
Provides mentoring and support to individuals reentering the community from county jail to reduce recidivism and to individuals placed on deferred disposition by the court to complete their conditions and avoid jail sentences.
Rockland District Nursing Association
Provides non-acute, in-home nursing and community health services to residents of Rockland and seven surrounding communities. RDNA serves all age groups, with predominantly seniors living independently typically requiring care.  RDNA focuses on residents who otherwise would not have access.

Sixty-Three Washington Street

The Soap Closet
The Soap Closet distributes personal hygiene products once a month to four food pantries in Waldo County specifically for the benefit of low income households.  Products are also delivered to area schools to be distributed by school nurses and teachers to children from low income households.  These products include laundry detergent, dish soap, body wash or soap, tooth brushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, and toilet paper.  You can write to us at: P. St. Bernard Soup Kitchen - St. Brendan the Navigator Parish
Providing noontime meals five times a week to residents of the Mid-Coast area since 1984.
Station Maine
Practices, shares, and encourages the rise of traditional skills of the sea, including sailing, rowing, and seamanship.
Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center
This wilderness camp provides learning and leadership opportunities to become knowledgeable and caring inhabitants of the earth. Scholarships are awarded to those who are able to afford tuition.

Teen and Young Parent Program of Knox County
Educates and advocates for teen parents and their children through parenting education, information on child development, mentoring matches, playgroups, social and educational programs.

Connects young people with caring adults through the use of authentic experience, travel, community service, and outdoor experiential education.
University College at Rockland
Funds are used to support scholarships for first-time college students who may otherwise be unable to pursue higher education. Funds provide access to courses, full degree programs and support services from the University of Maine System.

     Vinalhaven Eldercare Services

Vinalhaven Fuel Fund
Provides heating assistance (oil, kerosene and wood) for emergency situations such as accidents, fires and medical problems. Funds limited to elderly, the ill and the disabled.

Waldo Community Action Partners
Provides a variety of programs to help low-income residents of Waldo County move toward self-sufficiency. Programs include but are not limited to: Head Start, Early Head Start, Transportation, Fuel Assistance, Housing, Weatherization, Health Insurance Navigator, and Heroes 4 Hunger.
     Waldo County Dental Care

Waldo County Home Health & Hospice
Direct home healthcare to adults, the elderly and the terminally ill. Includes: nursing, aides, social work, physical, occupational, speech and dietary services, in addition to medical Hospice and pastoral care.

Waldo County YMCA
Provides Preschool, Before & After School Care as well as a place for teens after school. Offers recreation, fitness and wellness programs, and healthy opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Financial aid is offered to everyone who qualifies, no person is ever turned away due to inability to pay.

Waterfall Arts
Provides classes, residencies, exhibitions and events for all ages and abilities with a focus on art and nature at two sites in Belfast and Montville. Provides program scholarships for area youth with financial need.

     Waterman's Community Center

Wayfinder Schools Passages Program
An alternative high school for teen parents and those who have struggled in traditional school settings. Our mission is to help students discover their strengths, connect with their families, practice personal responsibility, contribute to their communities and graduate with a state of Maine approved high school diploma.
Youth Arts
Serves to inspire and enrich the K-12 school community and the entire local community through a series of dynamic and enriching arts experiences.
